Continuing our series of posts introducing you all to our incredible team of recruitment professionals, this week we have one of our Co-Founders, Tom Evernden in the hot seat.
Tom has been a successful professional within sales and IT spanning almost 20 years and now having helped build TTP to where it is today, continues to help candidates realise their potential by heading up our Sales and Marketing division.
Let's hear what he had to say when we sat down for a chat.
Do you have a nickname?
Literally the only one I can think of which is suitable for this purpose is “Ev”. Short and sweet. Had it for as long as I can remember.
What’s your favourite sandwich?
Contentious, but Prawn & Crispy Bacon with Rocket, Chilli Sauce & Mayo. Do not knock it until you’ve tried it.
Do you prefer dogs or cats?
As my colleagues will know, I have a lot of love for dogs. Eventually, I will open a rescue for
all shapes, sizes, and ages, so the number of unfortunate pooches have a home to live life
out in. Big dream, big project, but something I am very passionate about.
If you could bring back any fashion trend or old slang, what would it be?
I do love Cockney Rhyming. I think it’s a language which was a great part of British (Londan) history. Also, whatever happened to rhinestones?!
What are you passionate about outside of work?
I’m an avid gamer (though a very mediocre one) and with my son living a distance
away from me, getting to share that with him is a big thing for me. Fishing is high up
on the list, and Rugby is probably my biggest passion. Not forgetting my dog, Molly.
How long have you been working with TTP and how did you end up here?
I’ve been here since the inception, and founded the business along with Tom and Pam. It
was a Covid-ridden time, and the reality was that I had been threatening to do it for years,
but the timing wasn’t right with successes in other roles. This was a “punt”, really, I think it
would be agreed, but we are still here and growing nicely, with great intentions to keep
going.
What sectors do you specialise in?
Coming from a sales background, it only made sense to utilise that experience in assisting
with those kinds of roles, having worked at all levels within that sector, though this started
out predominantly within Tech. Now, I have recruited for roles in Sales, Marketing and
Operations, which has certainly broadened my knowledge, and the ability to assist in a wider
variety of roles.
How do you think TTP stands out in the recruitment market?
We are a tight knit group of experienced individuals, that want to show it’s not just about
firing a thousand CVs to you, hoping to hit the mark. We have an ethos of quality over
quantity, and genuinely care about our candidate’s next move, as essentially, we are the
ones responsible for their next career moves. We won’t work with clients we don’t believe
would be a good fit for our candidates, and vice versa.
The real Brucey Bonus with us, though, is the 12-month rebate we offer. We don’t see it very
often when we initially speak with new clients, that they’ve even heard of it happening, so to
offer something which stands out and offers a real insurance and peace of mind, well that’s
an obvious USP and a great way to start a great working relationship.
What three words would describe The Talent Partnership?
Incomparable, Meticulous, Proper
